Dear Agent

I am amazed at how many writers write YA fantasy and paranormal these days. I guess my mind just doesn't think along those lines. The fantasy and paranormal aspect that is. My mind tends to dwell in the kind of dark places where maniacs and psychos crouch in the shadows. I've always loved reading mystery/suspense/thrillers, Tony Hillerman being one of my favorite authors.

My completed manuscript has a female audience in mind. It has the page-turning drama of a suspense-thriller, with just enough romance to make you feel warm and gushy inside. Recent edits have brought it to 96,400 words. It is written to be either a stand-alone or book one of a two-book series.

I have just begun the querying process in hopes of snagging an agent. I would love to find someone who not only enjoys working with first-time authors, but someone who has the drive and energy to make this book, and subsequent books, success stories.

I have dozens of articles published in magazines, everything from Oxygen to Woman's World. I've written about a serial killer, gardening in the desert, diet supplements and almost anything you can think of that falls in between. It has been a very fun and rewarding pursuit.

I am now ready to make the move to the next arena and have a novel published. Whether it is this one or perhaps another one down the road, I have made a comittment to myself to make this happen, come heck or high water. I believe in myself and I believe in my writing.

So, first stop on the journey is landing an agent. I know you are out there -- we just need to find each other.  I'm ready...what are you waiting for? Let's get this ball rolling!

Sue
